Halloween Treat Ideas | Dallas Children and Family Photography

October 28, 2011

Halloween is such a fun time of year.  Except for when you think it is just a fun time of year and you take your children to the local Halloween store, full of dismembered body parts, Zombie children’s costumes, and gore of all kinds.  Then you remember that some people celebrate Halloween in a not-so-fun way.  But that’s off point.  To keep this holiday fun and devil-worshipping-free, I looked up some super fun ways to celebrate Halloween 2011 with food.  The kids will go crazy over these tasty and festive treats!

This first image?  Self explanatory.  And ohhh soooo goood.

Last year I tried to go all out.  For breakfast we had ghost-shaped pancakes with chocolate chip eyes, ghost-blood (aka milk), and these jack-o-lanterns (cut out of oranges) filled with bug guts (mixed fruit.)  I set it up so well that Mackay refused to eat any of it because it sounded too disgusting.  How can it be disgusting when it looks so cute?  Better luck this year.

These little mummy-hot dogs look way too cute and what kid doesn’t like hot dogs?  (What adult doesn’t like hot dogs?)

These little spiders look delicious, and disgusting, all at the same time.Would be great for a party, or to create with your kiddos!

And for a healthy snack during the day these little Apple Bites couldn’t be cuter.

I hope you all have a fun and safe Halloween 2011 and create some fun memories with your kids they won’t soon forget!  If you have any fun and creative ideas or traditions in your family, leave a comment and let me know–I would love to hear them!

Happy Birthday, Mom! | Dallas Fort Worth Family Photographer

April 29, 2011

Mom and MeYesterday was my mom’s ** birthday.  To celebrate we had my little brother, Andy, come home from his mission.  My older brother, Kyle, get married. She got my kids in town, and tomorrow we’re going on a cruise!  Probably more hectic a birthday than most, but definitely not one that will be forgotten!

Happy birthday, Mom!

Record Keeping

July 2, 2010

I think the most usual, mundane, and “normal” parts of our children are the things that are least likely to be written down.  And are therefore forgotten.  But it is those very things that are most worthy of remembering!  My daughter finished preschool for the summer a few months ago, and something she brought home was a little worksheet her teacher helped her fill out of her favorite things.  It was super cute (and a little revealing)!

So I wanted to create something that I could use periodically to remember those little things about my children that I am most likely to forget.  And then I thought I would share it with all of you!  So here is Mackay’s latest Childhood Questionnaire:

And then I thought I’d share it with you all so you can remember those little things your children say and do as well!

Just copy and paste into Word and then complete it with your children.  Don’t forget to do it every so often (however frequent you choose).  I can’t wait to be able to compare Mackay’s answers as she grows!
