Remember this couple? I was able to capture their engagement portraits in January. In Colorado. (Talk about freezing!) I think I must have been the only one to notice the cold because these two? Well, they must have been in their own little oasis of love. And warmth.
Nate’s little brother is getting married tomorrow and we couldn’t be more excited! Congrats to Jason and Jenna!!

Gettin’ Married! | Dallas Fort Worth Photographer
July 29, 2011Clients turned friends. Dallas residents turned San Antonio residents. Family of three turned family of four. I had the pleasure of packing up my family and photography equipment and flying to San Antonio for the day a few weeks ago. To photograph this new little miracle. Everything about him made my heart sing.

But I think my most favorite moment of the day was being able to capture this little boy with his new big sister.
His very proud, very loving big sister. These two images have turned into some of my most favorites that I have ever had the opportunity to capture. And I envision them blown up, side by side, on gallery wrapped canvases. Displaying their love to whoever walks into their house.

Thank you, Brooke and Kevin, for allowing me to photograph your newest bundle of joy. He was absolutely adorable, even though he wins for most messed on blankets, my love for him cannot be swayed. I cannot wait to capture him as he grows. The milestones he will achieve, with big sister helping him all along the way.

July 25, 2011Have you seen this site? It’s a photobooth, using your computer’s camera. You push a button to start and then it just starts snapping away, if you’re ready or not–just like a real photobooth! We had so much fun doing this though beware–you may never STOP.

July 22, 2011I think I’ve come across something wonderful. I saw this great preschool idea here, but adapted it for my own purposes. I took a bunch of popsicle sticks and wrote a fun activity on each. I did not make them cute, modge podge was not involved. When Mackay finishes her chores for the day she gets to choose a “happy stick”. (The name for these came to me as the words were already pouring out of my mouth. If I had thought about it more, I would have come up with something better.)

Some things are outings, some things cost money, and some are free. The best part was that I was able to personalize them specifically to her.
Some things I wrote down were:
- Disney dance party
- Help mom make a dessert
- Make a fort
- Play dress-up
- Go to the dollar store
- Paint our fingernails
- Rent a movie
- Pretend you’re a dog
- Date night with Dad
- Mom does your chores tomorrow
- LAVA!
- Pretend you’re the teacher
- Make playdough
- Etc.
So far she has absolutely loved it and it has been a wonderful way to bring variety to our day and spend quality time together. I seriously recommend it!
Remember this image from the Facebook fan page I showed you all a few weeks back? Well, I had this great opportunity to join a Dallas/Fort Worth Photographers Meetup group. For this specific event they provide the models and location, and you just got to have fun snapping away, experimenting with different poses and lighting, and interacting with about 30 other photographers from the area. It was such a fun experience and I loved every minute of it! Something completely out of the box from my regular child and family clientele.
So this image is one I was able to capture of the lovely Heather.
And David Harned from the event was able to capture this lovely moment of me. (Thanks, David!) Since I made Heather lie on the ground I figured I shouldn’t be afraid to, either. And I’m really pleased to have been able to see this behind the scenes photo of myself working with my camera. So yes, I will lie on the ground to get a great shot–even on the dirty ground of Deep Ellum.
