With the weather getting nicer outside (aka getting too-nice outside), and I can’t handle going to the park three times a day to let the kids run out energy, I started looking into some other things to do. I compiled a list and thought you all could benefit from the fun going-ons in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex.
Bancroft Family Concert series. The Bancroft Family Concert series are FREE, Saturday afternoon, family-friendly classical chamber music concerts featuring the best professional artists in North Texas. Seriously? I can take my four year old to enjoy the finer arts, and not feel stressed out when I have to take her to the bathroom three times and miss half the concert? These concerts are held at the 325-seat Horchow Auditorium in the Dallas Museum of Art. Two days left this year: Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 3:00pm and Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 3:00pm.
Kids Workshops at Home Depot. The Home Depot’s Kids Workshops are FREE and are held on the first Saturday of every month, normally between 9:00am and noon at every Home Depot store. I just heard about this from a friend yesterday morning and she said how excited she was that the first Saturday morning of every month meant Daddy-Son outing. (aka quiet-alone-time for mommy!) And I fully plan on carrying that out in our own family as well. April’s workshop was making personalized planters just in time for spring. I’m sure my daughter would love to learn how to swing a hammer on her own little project, wouldn’t yours?
Bookmarks at Northpark Center. Seriously, there is too many activities to list. From learning about the birds of Texas to Spring crafts. Ages from 24 months and under to 7 and under. Atmos Energy is getting some serious brownie points for their wonderful Children’s Activity series. They have different activities twice a day EVERY day of the week except Tuesdays. MoMe Yoga, Kids Krafts, etc, etc, etc! I will definitely be checking this out–and do a little shopping at the same time.
And of course, this summer we will be spending plenty of hours by the pool. I would love to hear any and all other ideas that you all are planning on doing this year, or things you’ve heard about! Please let me know–because a busy child means a sane mom. ![]()
